No.2（1999）4.Behavior of retained austenite on super subzero treatment

This is a study of sub-zero treatment (SZ) and super sub-zero treatment (SSZ) for JIS-SK3 and Stainless steel. The SZ conditions varied in temperature and sitting time until SZ. The specimens were evaluated for the Rockwell hardness（HRC）and quantity of Retained austenite(γR). The results show that the Rockwell hardness increased by varying the SZ conditions. The effects were large with a short sitting time at SZ(at 0 to -70℃). However, the effect of sitting time was not seen at SSZ(-196℃).
