Innovation: Small and medium-sized enterprises realize it.

Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Technology Research Institute (TIRI) was established in April 2006 by Tokyo Metropolitan Government to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with industrial technical support, i.e. testing material and products, researching new technology, technical education and enablement. Our goal is improving the lives of Metropolitan area residents. Since then, we have expanded our technical assistance programs to meet our customers' requirements. Many customers have utilized our testing service, equipment sharing service, technical consultations for these years and TIRI has grown together with our customers. TIRI established new headquarters at the Rinkai Fukutoshin Aomi area in October 2011, and we are concentrating on technical support for SMEs, focusing on development initiatives. Due to not only technical innovation and globalization of economy, but also the aging of Japanese society combined with lower birth rate, social environment surrounding SMEs in Tokyo is dramatically changing.

TIRI plans to enhance our R&D organization for these priorities in order to develop technical seeds that can be utilized by SMEs. We also support SMEs to realize products and business based on our seeds and technology. Additionally, we provide support for overseas expansion such as Metropolitan Technical Support Network for Export Products (MTEP), which offers support on export procedures for Japanese products.

Note: Our support service is only available to Japanese companies (including foreign companies with subsidiaries in Japan).
