No.3(2000)17.Self- discharge type charge eliminator made of new material fiber

Self-discharge type charge eliminator has simple structure and needs not any power suply. Therefore, it is used widely at plastic film manufacturing industry for the purpose of eliminating electrostatic charge on the film. The discharge brush of the eliminator are made of stainless steel fiber or carbon fiber, and these fiber have high conductivity. The setting distance between the eliminator and the plastic film is very short,so the tip of the fiber touch the surface of the film repeatedly. Therefore, there is some possibility of fiber being snapped. The contamination trouble of the film product is caused when a piece of broken fiber gets mixed on the film in manufacturing process. The short circuit trouble or the mulfunction trouble is caused when a piece of broken fiber gets invaded into the internal of the equipment near by the eliminator. We examined the characteristics of the eliminator which discharge brush is made of material following : carbon fiber, stainless steel fiber, ceramic-carbon mixed fiber and amorphous fiber. The charge eliminating characteristics of the amorphous fiber eliminator is the same as the the characteristics of the stainless steel fiber eliminator. This amorphous fiber is superior in the elasticity, so there is no possibility of snapping off.
